The 411 on Wedding Trends!

July 1, 2017

I find that trends and weddings typically don't make a good mix. Why you ask? Well because what is "IN" this season may not be in years to come. The worst mistake is when people embrace a trend when it doesn’t even make sense in the space. As much as taking trends into consideration is a good idea, make sure you add elements that reflect your style as a couple. With wedding season in full swing, here are some of the elements I am looking forward to seeing this year!

Surprise settings
Couples want that WOW factor for their wedding and choice of venue is the best way to do so. Choosing a space or building that can be transformed with personal touches that are unique to the couple's story is the what we will hopefully be seeing more of.

Metallics and Pinks
Metallics are versatile and can be used to have a relaxed or more formal feel depending on the couple. If you plan on using metallics - use it strategically. Blush pink has been the "it" color for a while and it plans to stay. You'll be seeing a lot more whether it's flowers, decor or linen - it's a timeless color that's here to stay.

Handwritten Invites

More couples are moving towards having handwritten invites and I for one certainly love seeing them. It adds such a special thoughtful touch in elevating your wedding invites. I'm definitely looking forward to more gold foil and metallics - this is a trend that's here to stay a while and I don't mind it one bit.

Let them eat cake
The days of pies, cake pops, doughnuts, and cupcakes as the "wedding cake" may soon be coming to an end. There’s something nostalgic to people about wedding cake and couples are choosing to go back to the tiered layered cake. Tall cakes lend visual interest to a dessert table and allow for some very creative artistry — anything from hand painting to jeweled accents.

Although it's great to know what trends are making an appearance, don't let them intimidate you while you plan your wedding. A wedding is so much more fun when your family and friends are able to see elements that scream you - you don't want to include something in your wedding that doesn't necessarily fit your couple style.
